DHA supplement during breastfeeding

· breastfeeding,breast milk,breastfeeding diet

University of South Dakota researchers found that mothers who take DHA supplements had higher levels of DHA in their breast milk than those who did not (0.23% vs. 0.15%), which further supports American Association of Pediatrics' recommendation for pregnant and lactating women to consume 200 mg to 300mg of DHA per day. Consumption of 1 to 2 portions of fish (eg, herring, canned light tuna, salmon) per week will meet this need.
